Can I just say, I MISS MY CAMERA!!!! There have been so many awesome moments lately with the kids that I've wanted to capture but can't. I am really intrigued with photography but haven't had any formal education on the subject and just when I was ready to sign up for a class, the dumb camera died. My sis received an incredible camera for Christmas and I'm so jealous! It looks like a pretty mean machine and I'd kill to have something even half that fancy. Hopefully I can save up to buy a bad boy for myself one day!
Janzyn is growing so fast! He's on the move now and it's hilarious to watch him discover new things. He does this modified army/inch worm crawl and he loves to explore every square inch of the house. I'd forgotten what it meant having a scooter. He's finding all kinds of treasures in the dust bunnies everywhere. He loves to pull himself up to things and stand but hasn't quite figured out how to sit back down without turfing it. He usually ends up hanging on and screaming until someone comes to his rescue. It's pretty darn cute! I'm afraid, though, that this means he'll be walking sooner rather than later. Not sure I'm ready for that! Oh, the joys of being a new mom all over again.
The weather has been rather dreary the last week or so and I'm tired of it. I'm ready for spring! Or at the very least a little sunshine and above freezing temperatures. I had to go for a drive yesterday just to get out of the house for a few minutes. Pathetic! I dream of hopping on a plane to some tropical destination for a reprieve but I'm afraid it will be a very long time before that dream becomes a reality. Darn it all, anyway!

Mama musings
Ok, the babe is down for a nap, the little kids are playing in the familyroom downstairs and just finished up a client's hair. My computer is working again after a short hiatus and I actually have a minute to get on here! I've had so many things rolling around in head to blog about but when I've finally had time to do it, the thoughts have vanished. AKA bloggers block!
Wedding plans are coming along nicely. We have a photographer lined up and Cec and I are going to a tasting extravaganza with the caterer. (My buddy, Chan!) We've figured things out on paper and hopefully we have a handle on what needs to be done. We still need to pick out the flowers, get the dresses for the little girls, get addresses (if you want an invite send me your address!), and decide on decorations for the reception. The engaged couple still needs to find jobs and decide where they want to live. It's all a bit surreal to think that my little girl is really getting married. It's so very exciting and a little bit sad at the same time.
Not long ago, I'm sure it was just last week, I was playing outside with my two oldest kiddos when Cecy decided to run into the street. We lived on the corner of a busy intersection and I remember the panic that set in as I watched her in slow motion, running into the road. My heart stopped, I screamed, and chased after her. I remember gathering her up in my arms and sobbing as flashes of what could've happened pierced my gut. At that moment, I knew I would give my life to keep her safe. Now, here I am, turning her over to someone else's keeping and it's a difficult relinquishment to make. I know Andy will treasure and safeguard her with his whole being, but there's nothing quite like the love of a mother. I live and breath for my children, all eight of them. I've learned the hardest thing a mother has to face is letting her children go.
So many people question our sanity in our family choices, and to be honest, there are days I question myself. After all, I'm old enough to be a grandma (thank goodness I'm not yet!) and here I sit with a little baby of my own. People ask me all the time if I really wanted this life or if we're ever going to stop adding children, as if it's a bad thing. Is this the life I wanted? There's nothing I ever wanted more than to be a mom. Did I think I'd still have youngun's at this age? No but that's the fun part. We never really know what life has in store for us. I read a saying that goes, "You think my hands are full? You should see my heart!" It's so true. Sometimes my heart feels like it's going to burst, it's so full of kid-love. I'll admit there are days that I long for a quiet, clean house and hopefully someday that will be a reality but for now I'm trying to enjoy the noisy, hectic, chaos that is my family!

The party is over!
Christmas vacation came and went way too fast! We actually had a full two weeks off but with everyone sick for half of the time it didn't seem like it was that long. This morning, I dragged my sleepy butt out of bed and got everyone off to school. I'll admit, during the holiday I was lazy and slept in almost every day. Jay was so awesome! He got up early and made breakfast for everyone. In fact, he surprised us with breakfast in bed! It was wonderful and I miss him already. I love having my family around me all day and it feels so quiet now with just the two little boys and my niece here. Oh, and Cecy just pulled herself out of bed so I guess I'd better count her too.
My camera broke just before Christmas so I don't even have any fun pictures to share. We really didn't do anything exciting over the holiday because everyone was so down and out, but the kids mastered Jayson's Rock Band. Even Jake and Maleia got into it! Let me tell you, that little Maleia is quite the singer and Jake can pound a mean drum. It was fun to watch them get so involved and they begged every day to play. Definitely something we're going to have to invest in!
I've been thinking a lot about the past year and all the ups and downs our family went through. There were some pretty tough times that tried my patience and left me feeling so overwhelmed. Looking back, I'm not quite sure how I survived, but survive I did. We also had some pretty incredible blessings come our way as well. Janzyn was the biggest one of all! He's so amazingly perfect for our family and although I didn't realize he was missing from our brood, now I can't imagine life without him. I'm really hoping that 2009 isn't quite so much of a roller coaster but if it is, we'll get through it I'm sure. I definitely feel like one blessed mama, though.
